James Mahlon Cloud, Sr.July 3, 1931 ~ July 3, 2017 (age 86)
James Mahlon Cloud, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on July 3. 2017 at his home in Pasadena. Jim was born on July 3, 1931 in Baltimore to the late Mahlon and Emma Virginia Cloud. After graduating from Southern High School, Jim enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, Jim enrolled in college where he obtained a degree in Architecture. After graduation, Jim spent over 30 years as an architect and Vice President at Greiner Engineering. He took part in the design of many projects, including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Lexington market, and BWI airport. He was also a long time member of the Timonium Fairground’s Board of Directors. In addition, Jim was an active member of the American Legion for many years.
Outside of his professional career, Jim loved to spend time with his family traveling, camping, boating, and attending Oriole’s, Clipper’s, Colt’s, and Raven’s games. He also shared his love and knowledge of architecture and design while teaching night school at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Elizabeth Cloud of Pasadena; three daughters - Marina (Bill)Keslosky of Greenville, Indiana, Sharon Bennett (Butch) of Goldsboro, NC, Michele Tharp (Al) of Pasadena, Maryland; and a son, James M. Cloud, Jr. (Donna) of Pasadena, Maryland. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents and by his sister, Jean Winiarski of Rosedale, MD. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grand-children.
Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Friday July 7, 2017 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Where a funeral service will be held on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 10 AM. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Jim was a long time member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Pasadena, where he also served on the Vestry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s honor to St. Andrew’s (7859 Tick Neck Road, Pasadena, MD 21122).
