Barbara Dori

August 11, 1942 — December 17, 2022

Barbara Ann Dori (McNamara) passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She is survived by her son David Lamberto Dori, daughter Ann-Marie Dori, son-in-law David W. Moore, and brother Patrick H. McNamara. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Donald Dori, father, Patrick (Harry) McNamara, mother, Ann M. McNamara (Honce), and beloved pets Schatzie and Trixie.

Barbara was the life of the party, made friends everywhere she went, and was quick-witted with inappropriate jokes. Born an independent and free spirit, Barbara couldn’t wait to escape her small town and went on a girl’s trip to Europe as soon as she graduated from high school. She was the first person in her family to buy a car, which allowed her to put herself through college at night while working full-time at Fort Monmouth, NJ. There she met and married David, the love of her life. Unable to finish college due to health issues, the Dori’s moved to Baltimore, MD. Barbara always did her best not to let her health issues stop her from living life to the fullest.

Barbara dedicated her life to raising her family and taking care of the home she loved and shared with her husband for nearly 50 years. She was a talented decorator and fashionista with the perfect bold jewelry to accompany any outfit. Barbara’s passion for traveling continued, and she was grateful for the opportunity to travel the world with her friends, husband, and family. She worshiped the sun and the beach, spending as much time as she could at the Jersey shore and the family condo in Ocean City, MD. Flowers and gardening brought Barbara a lot of joy; she was a member of the Cornfield Creek Gardening Club, and her yard was always a beautiful work-in-progress.

Most of all, Barbara loved throwing parties and being social – bringing people together to play cards, dance, eat, and enjoy each other’s company. The more the merrier, everyone was always welcome. Strangers were so drawn to her; the family has joked for years that she had a stamp on her forehead that said, “Hi! I’m Barbara. Talk to me!”

After struggling to recover from a severe infection since 2019, Barbara is finally at peace and was reunited with her husband just in time for Christmas, her favorite holiday. We will never forget her contagious smile and how her light brightened a room. May it never dim.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the family owned and operated MCCULLY POLYNIAK & COLLINS FUNERAL HOME, 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church 8325 Ventnor Road PASADENA on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 10 am. Interment Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
