In loving memory of
Charles Edward Bowens, Sr, also known to many as Chunky, and Coodie Brown departed life quietly at his home Wednesday, September 11, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Chunky was born July 16th, 1948, to the late Frances Bernie Bowens.
Chunky received his education from the Frederick County Public School Systems. After graduating he took on different jobs until he became a sanitation engineer truck driver which he loved so much that he would be at the yard and ready to go even before his boss got there to unlock the gate.
Chunky met Sandra Lewis and knew that she was the one who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, so he made her his wife June 21, 1985. From that union two children were born Kanissia (Duppy) and Charles Jr., (Chunk-Chuck). Later in life Chunky had one other son Bryan.
Chunky leaves to cherish memories of a life well lived, his children, Kanissia, Charles, Jr and Bryan, also Kyle Hobbs who he and Sandy took under their wings and raised as their own, a son-in-law Carl Finch, one daughter-in-law Lovette, six grandchildren, Terrik, Deasha, Taelor, Tyasia, Khamyrn and Karter, seven great-grandchildren, Mensah, Rylan, Dominic, Sariyah, Dakota, Elijah and Noah. Two sisters-in-law, Valerie and Rachel Myers, two brothers-in-law, Stanley Jr, and Brian Myers and a host of other family members and friends.
Chunky was proceeded in death by his father, mother, wife and sisters.
The Bowens family would like to thank everyone for their calls, cards and visits we received, and a special thanks to the McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home
