Charles John Dougherty, 95, a life-long resident of Glen Burnie, MD, died on Friday, June 11 of natural causes. Born on October 3, 1925 in Baltimore, MD to the late John A. and Annabelle (nee Eckard) Dougherty, Charles served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and fought in Okinawa during World War 2. After being discharged, he worked as a deckhand and tugboat captain with Baker Whitely Towing. He enjoyed watching Orioles and Ravens games, fishing and crabbing, but mostly, he loved being with his family. Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Phillips, who died in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Lois Dougherty, his daughter, Linda Kramer (Frank) of Crofton, MD and his grandchildren, Wendy Sherman (Rob), Jeff Kramer (Carrie), Greg Novak (Susan), Michael Corder (Ashlee), Samantha Phillips, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road Pasadena, Maryland 21122 on Monday June 21, 2021 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at 9 AM. Interment Crownsville Veteran Cemetery.
