Danny Lee Wenzel, 72, of Pasadena, MD passed away on the afternoon of August 16, 2025 surrounded by his family. He fought a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Danny was born March 3,1953 in Germany, the son of Ulysses and Rose Marie Wenzel. His family moved to the United States when he was six years old.

Danny graduated from Brooklyn Park High School in 1971, then went on to The University of Maryland, earning a degree in Business and Management. He worked for the State of Maryland in the Budget and Fiscal Planning Office, the Department of Natural Resources Police, and created his own tax and accounting business.

Danny married Sophie Banton on July 31,1976 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, Maryland. They were married for 49 years and built a family filled with love. They enjoyed vacationing together and making memories with their children and grandchildren.

Danny especially loved supporting his children with their sports and hobbies, playing racquetball, going to building auctions, skiing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Remaining to cherish Danny’s memory are his wife, Sophie Wenzel; children, Jason, Janelle and Corey Wenzel; daughters-in-law, Chelsea and Blaire Wenzel; grandchildren, Kaylin, Liam, Kenley, Sawyer, Parker and Paige Wenzel; brother, Doug Wenzel; and sisters, Rose Simon, Sabrina Calvert, and Heather Kennerly.

Preceding Danny in death are his parents, Ulysses and Rose Marie Wenzel, and his brother, Richard Wenzel.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 24 at 3:00 pm at the family owned and operated McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home, P.A. 3204 Mountain Rd Pasadena. Friends and family are invited to visit to share condolences from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service.

Memorial donations in Danny’s memory may be directed to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
