Crisfield

David Brian Dodge, of Crisfield, Maryland, passed away suddenly at his residence, on October 27, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Dodge from whom he had been separated for many years, and his former wife Karen Ponzillo. Also survived by his devoted children Brian Dodge, Ashley Black (Irvin Jr.) and Amanda Smith (Tyler); dear grandchildren Lincoln, Lawson, Eleanor, Jett, Margaret and Mildred; loving siblings Kathleen Brown, John Dodge, Jr., and Kenneth Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Dodge and brother Deacon Michael Dodge.

David made his home on Maryland’s Eastern Shore for more than 15 years, a place he truly loved. He found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of everyday life and was known as a craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, specially making birdhouses. He also loved golf, gardening, baking and cooking, and he had a special fondness for strawberry ice cream and seafood. These interests reflected a life lived with warmth, creativity, and an appreciation for both beauty and comfort.

He was also devoted to his community and fellowship with others. David was a member of American Legion Post #16 and of the Crisfield VFW, where he formerly served as Commander. His involvement in these organizations spoke to his commitment to service, camaraderie, and the community he called home. He was also a 1965 graduate of Mergenthaler High School and served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.

David will be remembered for the life he built, the things he made with his hands, and the enjoyment he found in the world around him. His memory will remain with all who knew him and shared in the pleasures, conversations, and friendships that marked his days.
