David Andrew Hildebrand

October 25, 1980 — May 23, 2025

David Hildebrand, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away following a tragic accident on the track in Atlanta, Georgia.

No matter how you knew David, whether you grew up with him in Maryland, worked with him during his career, served with him in the Air Force, shared his love of racing, or met him while adventuring, you knew he was an authentically great guy. He always brought a laugh, a smile, and a lighthearted spin to anything life threw at him or at those within reach of his wit.

David was a 1998 graduate of Easton High School in Maryland. That same year, he began his service in the Air Force, where he served until 2009. After his military career, he pursued higher education and earned a master’s degree in Systems Engineering. His career and sense of adventure lead him to homes in Virginia, Japan, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and ultimately Alabama.

David had a deep love for aviation, the outdoors, and motorsports. He could be found biking, kayaking, rafting, climbing, or motorcycle racing. A seasoned cat dad who gave his new pup, Archer, a loving and devoted start in living life to its fullest.

David is survived by his parents, Mark and Sharon Hildebrand; his sister, Carrie Hildebrand; his niece, Phoenix Johnson; and his grandmother, Thelma Weeks. He is also remembered with love by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Archer now lives with Phoenix, and Chester is being cared for by David’s parents.

A short service will be held at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery in Maryland. Details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to the Road racing World Action Fund, a nonprofit organization he strongly supported. The fund promotes rider safety and helps prevent injuries through the use of soft barriers at racetracks. https://www.roadracingworld.com/actionfund/about/.

We are all happier and stronger for having shared even a single part of what David brought to this world. If you don’t smile when remembering David, you missed his point.
