Derek Brennan

October 14, 1987 — September 17, 2018

Derek Matthew Brennan, beloved husband and loving father, of Pasadena, MD passed away, Monday, September 17, 2018 after a long battle of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Brennan and their handsome son, Aiden. He was preceded in death by their son, Logan, and daughter, Hailey. His parents (late) Ronald Brennan, Dawn Brennan, and step-father, George Granger. His grandparents Karen Collier, Richard Regiec, (late) William Brennan and (late) Nancy Brennan. His siblings, Adam Brennan, Nina Jones, and Kelsey Granger. His aunts/uncles, Roxanne Torres, Donna Brennan (Bob Coslett), Bill Brennan, Paul Brennan, and Ryan Brennan, and many other relatives.

Derek grew up in Swoyersville, PA. As a child, he was described as the most polite, loving, and kind-hearted boy. He loved school and always earned good grades. He once had a Science teacher, Mr. Godfrey, that said, ‘Derek was such a pleasure and the best student he has ever had and wishes he was able to have Derek in his class every year.’ Derek enjoyed boating, swimming, rollerblading, tubing, fishing, bike riding, Yahtzee, Pictionary (and other board games) and his frequent visits to the lake house. As he became an adult, these childhood favorites never changed. He also enjoyed playing outside with all of his friends. Derek always had a lot of friends even through adulthood.

Derek loved working and doing projects. If something needed to be fixed whether it was carpentry, electronics, plumbing, or cars he was always the man to call. Derek grew up to be the same loving, kind-hearted, and sweetest man you ever knew. Derek and Christina had 12 beautiful years together. They had a deep and eternal love that was taken away much too soon. Those years were filled with adventures to Niagara Falls, Punta Cana, Tennessee (to watch a Titans game), Ocean City, camping, Key West, New Orleans, a cruise, and the yearly family trip to Myrtle Beach.

Derek loved his wife, Christina, his son, Aiden, his dog, Nala, and his family/friends more than anything. He also loved the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Orioles, his motorcycle, playing video games, watching movies, and hanging out with family/friends. Most importantly he loved his life so much. Derek was always up for any adventure. He was always the happiest person at any event. You never saw Derek without a huge, goofy grin across his face that was full of life and happiness. Derek and Christina endeavored too many sorrowing times with the loss of their baby son and baby daughter and the news of his awful diagnosis. Derek was a fighter until the very end. Our hearts are broken and he left us much too soon. He was a very special person that touched everyone’s heart immediately. God took him home and he is no longer in pain. He will be missed tremendously. We love you, Derek!
