Diana Gillespie

On September 11th, 2023 after a long battle with illness and suffering Diana “Diane” Carol
Gillespie, at the age of 61, courageously put down her sword and found peace. As always, she
was in the hearts and minds of those who love her. Those who knew Diane know the power of her presence. She had the ability to walk into every room as herself. She said all the things we were afraid to say and made us laugh along with
her. She was kind and vulnerable, fierce and firm in her beliefs. She was a warrior who survived more than most could handle. She had a love of family history and the island of Chincoteague, which she always considered home no matter where life took her. Diane had a deep all encompassing love for her daughter, Kim, who she single handedly raised. Her light
was brighter than she could comprehend herself, but one that those who love her will feel always.
In her dark moments Diane questioned the love others felt for her. On October 8th, 2023 at 2 pm on Chincoteague Island we will gather for a Celebration of Life to remind her. Final details will follow shortly.
She was preceded in death by her mother Carolyn, father Earl, sister Earlene, and brother
Bryan. She is survived by her sister Mona, brother John, and daughter Kim.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Assateague Island Alliance.
