Doris Joan Bowen (nee Hahn)
February 27, 1939 – March 23, 2020
Doris Joan Bowen, a 52-year resident of Pasadena, died suddenly at BWMC on March 23rd, 2020 after a 5-day illness. Up until the week before her death, she was a spry, active 81-year-old. Doris was born in her parent’s farmhouse in Pasadena on February 27th, 1939. She was the youngest child of parents John and Bertha Hahn, both deceased. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Clarence (Buster) Hahn, John Hahn, and Harry Hahn.
In 1959, Doris married the love of her life, Tom, who died just six weeks before her. Doris is survived by her four children: Terry, Tom Jr., Tina, and Scott; her eight grandchildren: Nicole, Jordan, Nick, Drew, Jacob, Tom III, Steve, and Brad; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty & Milton Fontz, her sister-in-law, Delma Hahn, her brother-in-law, Tom Curry, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Doris was raised on a farm and learned to work hard at an early age. She worked most of her life and retired from a long, successful career at ADT. Doris loved going to Ocean City where she could relax in the sun while eating Thrasher’s French Fries and get a funnel cake on the Boardwalk. She love watching the Ravens and (mute) golf, and eating steamed crabs. However, her favorite pastime was being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
We will remember Doris for so many things, but mostly for the role she played as peacemaker in the family. Her nature was to give. She always reminded others to forgive and to love. It was so terribly hard to say goodbye, especially during the pandemic. You are truly missed!
