Gary David Schmidt February 25, 1952 – June 24, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary David Schmidt of Pasadena, Maryland, who passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 74. Gary was born on February 25, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was the beloved son of the late Eva Margaret and John Christopher Schmidt. He was a devoted husband, a caring brother, and a cherished member of his family. Gary dedicated over 30 years of service to the State of Maryland, working as a maintenance supervisor with the Department of Parks and Recreation at Assateague and Sandy Point State Parks. He took great pride in his work, especially enjoying the opportunity to spend his time outdoors. Known for his strong work ethic and hands-on approach, Gary left a lasting impact on those he worked with. Following retirement, Gary continued to pursue his passion for craftsmanship by working part-time with Shamrock Awards for 15 years. He enjoyed restoring furniture, detailing cars, and finding hidden treasures at yard sales and thrift stores—always bringing new life to the things he worked on. Gary had a love for country music, especially country western songs, and lived by his favorite saying, “Get ‘er done.” He enjoyed dancing and spending fun-filled evenings with friends, creating many fond memories along the way. Gary is survived by his loving spouse, Denise Schmidt; sisters Joan Spurio and Pat Giles; children Kimberly Woodall (Martin) and Eric Fleishman (Susan); and grandchildren Shane, Kaitlyn, Logan, Shelby, and Sydney. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
