George Stewart Bell Jr., 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather uncle and friend passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 5, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, George grew up in the city he loved and attended Polytechnic High School. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Mary S. Bell (Kampe). Together they built a beautiful life and shared 62 devoted years of marriage, eventually settling in Pasadena, Maryland, where they raised their family.
George dedicated his career to hard work and integrity. He began with Glidden Paint Company and later spent more than 40 years as a salesman with American Greetings Corporation. He took pride in providing for his family and was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Family was the center of George’s world. He cherished time spent outdoors — fishing, crabbing, hunting, gardening, or simply reading the newspaper on the back porch. His happiest moments were those shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a pillar of strength with a generous heart, quick wit, welcoming hugs, and a warm smile that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; his children, Jeanne (Ted) Meyer, Lynda (Jay) Carey, and George Bell; his grandchildren, Andrew (Samantha) Meyer, Steven Meyer, Rebecca Meyer, Jason Carey, and Marissa Carey; and his great-grandchildren, Cali Meyer and Nolan Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter S. Bell, and his parents, George S. Bell Sr. and Joan (DiCrispino) Bell.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate George’s life on Thursday March 5th at the family owned and operated McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home, P. A. from 3:00pm to 5:00pm or 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church 8499 Virginia Avenue PASADENA on Friday March 6th at 11:00am. Interment will follow mass at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in George’s memory to Hospice of the Chesapeake or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Oyster Restoration, at the links below
