Gloria J Curry

Apr 28, 1930 — Aug 30, 2026

Gloria Curry passed away on August 30, 2026, following a remarkable 96 years of life. She died gently in her home amid the love and support of family.

Gloria Josephine Bianconi was born and raised in Baltimore, the youngest of 10 children (now that's Italian!). She attended The Catholic High School of Baltimore prior to taking a job as a bookkeeper.

She married Earl Walter and while they were together had six children, living in Glen Burnie. One of Gloria's proudest moments was her idea for, and vigorous support of, the Glen Burnie Park Swim Club, which provided a community pool that is still enjoyed by neighborhood families more than 60 years later.

Gloria later married Jim Curry and they settled in Pasadena with the four children who had not already embarked on their own journeys into adulthood. During this time, Gloria was a part-time pediatric unit clerk at what was then Glen Burnie's North Arundel Hospital, where she worked for many years.

An avid reader, Gloria also enjoyed piecing together jigsaw puzzles, playing cards (penny-ante Texas Hold 'Em, anyone?) and dominating the Scrabble board. In her final years, she took great pleasure in her balcony garden.

In addition to her late husband Jim, Gloria's family members include children Nancy (Rick Feldman) Walter, David (Alex McGehee) Walter, Susan (Joe) Calianno, Mark (Betsy) Walter, Denise (Bart) Gibson and Michael (Erin) Walter, as well as 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial gathering for family members will take place at the Crownsville State Veterans Cemetery in the near future.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor Gloria's memory may make a donation to the hospice of the Chesapeake at the link below-but also adding a flowering plant to your garden as a happy reminder of her.
