Gloria Jean Scranton (nee Mudd), 80, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, in York, Pennsylvania. Gloria was born on October 16, 1944, in Baltimore to Horace and Hattie Mudd. She was one of ten daughters born to the couple, eight of which grew to adulthood.
She is survived by one sister, H Dolores Trew of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by her daughter, Patricia Langley and her husband James, her son Richard Barnes and his wife Marilyn, her son Steven Barnes, and his wife Sarah.
In addition, she will be missed by her five grandchildren including Lauren Milburn and her husband Matthew, Patrick Berry and his wife Madeleine, Jessica Tribo and her wife Audrey, Matthew Barnes, and Caleb Barnes. Gloria was also blessed with five great grandchildren (Allison, LaRue, William, Patrick, and Delia) who will miss their Gigi.
She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and other friends and loved ones too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 sisters, and her former husband, Gerald Barnes.
Gloria retired from CB Richard Ellis Baltimore office in October of 2010 after spending 19 wonderful years with them. She absolutely loved working with the CBRE team and doing everything she could to make the office a fun and enjoyable place to be. Everyone referred to her as “GLO” for her sunny, vibrant, and cheerful personality. CBRE was truly her extended family. She loved her work, the people, and their children as if they were her own. Gloria enjoyed quilting, the occasional cruise, spending time with her family, her friends and attending church. She loved helping others in her community.
Her love of her Savior Jesus Christ was always on full display and a big part of her life, and she would want her loved ones to remember Matthew 5:4. Thanksgiving will not be the same without her famous stewed tomatoes.
