James William Crowley, Sr. (Big Jerry)
It is with a heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our father James William Crowley also known as Big Jerry.
He passed peacefully in his house on the evening of April 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Shortly thereafter his grand dog Tank joined him at the gates to heaven.
Jerry was born on August 17, 1946, in Baltimore, MD to the late Frederick Crowley & Evelyn Rafferty-Crowley.
Jerry was preceded in the death by his cherished wife of 58 years Margaret Wehberg-Crowley who passed on December 8, 2008, as well by his sister Patricia Crowley-Staley & 2 brothers Frederick & Charles Crowley. He is survived by his 2 sons James W. Crowley, II. & wife Kimberly Crowley, Derek J. Crowley & wife Linsday R. Crowley his sister Celest Crowley & brother Thomas Crowley.
Jerry was the best POP his of 4 grandchildren's Teresa Crowley-Herb & husband Douglas Herb, Jr., James T. Crowley, Kiley R. & Brooke M. Crowley. He was a proud Great POP to his 2 great-grandchildren's Rylee & Douglas Herb. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family & friends who loved him dearly.
Jerry retired from local 953 after 37 years as a longshoreman.
In their spare time Jerry & Maggie loved to travel. He also enjoyed watching sports & hunting with his sons. He was a member of Lucky 7 Hunt club. He loved spending weekends away at the Crapo, Md home, where he enjoyed the outdoors cutting grass, riding 4 wheelers & teaching his grandchildren & greatgrandchildren life shills.
He was a generous & loving man! Pop had a heart bigger than most. Always giving & putting others first. He absolutely loved his children, grandchildren & especially his greatgrandchildren. They were all his world. He loved to spoil them with so much love & all the kids always made him light up full of love.
We will miss Jerry (POP) dearly, but we know he is now home with the love of his life.
As anyone who knew Jerry did not want a service. He would want to be celebrated & therefore there will be a celebration of life on May 30, 2026, at 1pm to 5pm at American Legion Post 277 MD. 7376 Carbide Rd Curtis Bay, MD 21226
