Janice Ann Holtman

September 29, 1939 — May 22, 2026

Janice Ann Holtman, born September 29, 1939, in Baltimore City to Thelma Yeager and James Hensen, passed away on May 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. Janice was lovingly raised by her Aunt Sis, who played a cherished role in shaping the woman she would become.

Janice married Franklin E. Holtman on July 12, 1958. Together they made their home in Glen Burnie, Maryland before moving to Kent Island in 1968, where she would spend the rest of her life as a treasured member of the community.

Throughout her working years, Janice held many jobs, including working for Queen Anne’s County at the Romancoke Pier, and working at Walgreens, Kmart, and Happy Harry’s. She took pride in her work and the connections she made along the way.

In her later years, Janice was a beloved member of the Stevensville Senior Center and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Kent Island, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved playing bingo, trying her luck at the slots, and nothing made her happier than a good Maryland crab cake. Her love of country music was well known, and she had a special place in her heart for Elvis.

She is survived by her children Timothy S. Holtman and his fiancée Theresa of Ridgley, Maryland; Brian A. Holtman Sr. and his wife Tracie of Stevensville, Maryland; and Laura A. Wheatley and her husband Bob of Grasonville, Maryland, as well as her beloved grandchildren Frank Holtman III, Tracie Cometa, Michael Beecher, Nick Holtman, Logan Holtman, Darryl Holtman, Kristina Holtman, Brian Holtman Jr., Cody Holtman, Shawnie Holtman, and Mathew Casey, as well as numerous great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life and loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin E. Holtman Sr. and her son Franklin E. Holtman Jr. of Rising Sun, Maryland, who is survived by his wife Karen.

A funeral service celebrating Janice’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Kent Island, 300 State Street, Stevensville, MD 21666.
