Jo Ann Hicks

November 3, 1941 — September 22, 2025

Jo Ann Hicks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 3, 1941, she was the youngest of four children and the only daughter of the late Josephine Marie Biseli and Edward Francis Cashen, Sr. While attending Glen Burnie High School, Jo Ann met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” (Butch) Hicks. Just ten days after her graduation, they married and began an extraordinary journey together that lasted 66 years, a testament to their devotion and love.

Jo Ann was the very heart of her family. As a wife and mother, she embodied devotion, and as “Grammy,” she was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished every gathering—whether a holiday, birthday, or simple family get-together—which she lovingly referred to as the “fam damily.” Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.

A lifelong Catholic, Jo Ann was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Fields Parish in Millersville, where she was known for her kindness, faith, and gentle spirit. She found beauty in life’s simple joys: watching birds from her window, tending her garden, and expressing her creative talents through interior decorating—making every home she touched both welcoming and beautiful.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; daughters Mary Jo Robinson (husband Rick) and Kathy Kronstadt (husband Wayne); grandson Kristopher Jones (wife Leigh) and great-granddaughter Emeline; granddaughter Kristen Giles (husband Brian) and great-grandchildren Abigail and Tommy; granddaughter Susan Willerson (husband Jason).

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jo Ann’s life on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM at the family owned and operated McCully Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home, P.A. 2304 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Avenue South, Millersville, MD 21108, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Jo Ann’s husband, Robert, who continues to bravely face this disease.
