John "Jack" A. Schuster, Jr.

John “Jack” Anthony Schuster Jr., of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 11, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on August 27, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jack lived a life defined by service, dedication to family, faith and friendship. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Schuster for 68 years and a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, coworker and friend.

After his graduation from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Jack enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during the Korean War era.

Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career with the Baltimore City Police Department where he served with honor and integrity for 25 years. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, Jack worked as a detective and was also a proud member of the department’s Motorcycle Unit. A strong believer in lifelong learning, Jack earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Baltimore in 1974.

Jack embraced life with enthusiasm and genuine love for the people around him. He developed a passion for running later in life and ran in many local races and marathons. An avid golfer throughout his life, Jack’s passion for the game began as a young boy when worked as a caddie at Rolling Road Golf Club. Golf remained one of his greatest joys, and he looked forward to playing weekly whenever possible with friends and family by his side.

Beyond the golf course, Jack was also an active and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, where he proudly served for a time as Grand Knight. His faith, generosity and commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Above all else, Jack will be remembered for the unconditional love and support he provided to his entire family. He was a constant presence at his 9 grandchildren’s many activities, including recitals, sporting events, award ceremonies, concerts, performances and so much more, always offering encouragement and unwavering support. His steady guidance, kindness, sense of humor, and devotion created a legacy that will continue through generations.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Schuster; his children, Elizabeth “Beth” Parsons, John “Jack” Schuster III (Sue), Jennifer Aliff (Tom), and Michael Schuster (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Amanda Dutterer (Ryan), Aleczander Parsons, Cato Mar, Julia Joo (Justin), Lillian Aliff, Jeremy Aliff, Max Schuster, Chloe Schuster, and Fletcher Schuster; and five cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Sue” Ritter and his brother, Richard Lane Schuster, Sr. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John Anthony Schuster and Dorothea Schuster.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Jack’s life was one well lived – marked by service to his country and community, dedication to his profession, commitment to his faith, and, most importantly, profound love for his family. His memory will be treasured always, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Jane Frances Church (8499 Virginia Ave, Pasadena, MD) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11 am, followed by interment at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude children’s Research Hospital.
