Joseph Robert O’Boyle (1942 – 2026)

Joseph Robert O’Boyle (83) of Pasadena, Maryland died of cancer at BWMC on March 8, 2026.He was born on October 3, 1942, to Joseph Francis O’Boyle and Marion (Thiel) O’Boyle in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Joe grew up in Dunmore, Pennsylvania with his mother, stepfather Walter Tuffy, three brothers and a sister.

Joe joined the Navy in 1960 and was very proud of his service. Joe moved to Maryland and spent most of his adult life working as the Director of Nutritional Services at North Arundel Hospital (now BWMC). Joe was a mentor/father figure to many people at the hospital. Joe enjoyed running and biking. His accomplishments included many marathons and triathlons. Joe retired from the hospital in 2006, after 33 years of service. In his retirement, he enjoyed hiking, kayaking and traveling with Linda.

Joe is survived by his wife Linda (Sievers) O’Boyle, brothers Robert Tuffy (Floss) and Walter Tuffy (Andra), children Joanne Lavery (Brian Mieczkowski), Joseph W. O’Boyle (Karen), Michael O’Boyle (Monica), Shawn O’Boyle (Patience), and Bryan O’Boyle (Kristen), stepdaughters Terri Latham (Scott), and Sandy Robinson (Dave), 19 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Gertrude (Bentham) O’Boyle, his sister Janet McDonough and his brother James O’Boyle.

Joe’s celebration of life is on March 28th from 2 to 6 PM at Ferndale Community Club.
