Katherine Jane Siffrin

December 9, 1963 — May 30, 2024

Katherine crossed over peacefully on May 30 with her close family by her side.  She was greeted by souls whose physical absence she felt so deeply, including her mother, Joan Lawson Kelly; her father, James A. Kelly, Jr.; her stepmother, Regina Kelly; her brother, Peter Kelly; her father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Loretta Siffrin; and many other beloved family members, friends, and pets.

Her husband Tom and her son James are comforted by her siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews; what a blessing that they are too numerous to list.

Tom and James’ boundless love and unwavering support for Katherine carried her through times of great struggle, including her battle with breast cancer in recent years. They are her greatest joy, and illuminated her life in immeasurable ways.

Growing up on Long Island, NY as one of eleven children, Katherine loved to regale an audience with stories, always leaving us in awe of her iron-clad memory.  Some of her most formative experiences took place on the family’s sailboat, as we explored Long Island Sound and the seaside gems of the New England coast.  Her love of the sea was deeply ingrained, a source of solace which brought her closer to those that went before her.

Katherine’s collection of loved ones had many pockets. She will be remembered as fiercely loyal, avidly curious, dedicated and conscientious, thoughtful and generous.  She could always be relied upon for a listening ear, sage advice, and an astute estimation of a situation.  Her delivery could be tender while often brutally honest, peppered by her razor-sharp wit and clever humor.  For those of us lucky enough to feel the depth of her love, we know that her chiding always came from that place of passion and compassion, and that indeed she had an inner knowing of our highest potential.

We will move forward through our grief with gratitude for having known her in this physical realm, as we watch for signs of her imprint and continued presence in our lives.
