On Monday, May 9, 2022, Leighton McCue Crawford unexpectedly passed away at the age of 26 at his home in Baltimore, MD.
Leighton was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in the suburb of Eagle Rock before moving with his family to Torrance, California. He was a graduate of South High School in Torrance, where he played varsity basketball and made lifelong friends.
Leighton loved the natural world. He was an expert bodysurfer at the beaches in Southern California and later enjoyed the seasons and the surrounding waters of his new home in Maryland.
Friends and family were central to Leighton; he loved the people in his life with unwavering devotion. His hobbies were gaming, reading - especially fantasy literature with stories of dragons - and drawing. Music was another passion, and Leighton listened to everything from classic rock to classical to metal. He adored animals, and they in turn loved him back. He was proud of his membership in Local 26 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he was an apprentice electrician.
Leighton is fiercely loved by those who survive him, including his mother, Cornelia Crawford of Torrance, California; father and stepmother William and Amy Crawford of Pasadena, Maryland; brother William Rion Crawford of Los Angeles, California; numerous family members in California, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and friends Hunter Buehl, Jileel McDaniels, Bryce Pooler and Cynthia Perez, Grant Orzechowski, and Sam Orzechowski.
