Mary Anna Elizabeth Aiello, (Nee Smiarowski) passed away peacefully of January 17th
She was born and lived in Maryland for her entire 88 years except for 2 years in Columbia, South Carolina while her husband was in the Army. She is survived by her beloved husband Dominic, 2 daughters Patricia Aiello and Dianna Martinez (Now Deceased), her granddaughter Sarah Ann Martinez, her grandson Phillip Aiello and his wife Kristy Aiello, and her 3 great-grandchildren John Dominic, Brianna and Nicolena Aiello.
She graduated from The Catholic High School of Baltimore and was employed at the Chemical Service Company of Maryland as a laboratory technician until her marriage on February 18, 1956, when she became a devoted housewife.
Mary Anna loved reading mystery and romance novels, traveling, shopping, and being with her family. She was a member of Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church and volunteered at the initial and subsequent housing of the homeless events at the parish and helped organize the kitchen facilities and feeding the homeless during their week stay at the parish. She was also a member of the Church's Bereavement Committee and the Wednesday Bible Study Group.
As the matriarch of 4 generations, she guided her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to a path to living a proper life, above all being good to and loving each other as she was to them. Although, at times, seeming to rule with an iron fist, it was always understood that underneath her glove of steel was a soft hand filled with love and generosity.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 10 am in the Our Lady of the Chesapeake Church 8325 Ventnor Road Pasadena.
In lieu of flowers, Mary Anna would be honored to have donations made to the hospice of the Chesapeake @ www.hospicechesapeake.org/giving.
