Michael James Kelley, Sr. of Odenton, Maryland passed away on January 19th, 2018 at the age of 58. He died surrounded by his loving wife, Rose, and children after a two week battle with pneumonia. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mike is survived by his wife, five children (Michael Jr., James, Matthew, Joseph, and Abigail Kelley), seven grandchildren with an eighth due in March, and two cats, Daisy and Maurice.
Mike was born on September 27, 1959 in Cheverly, MD to Dr.Gordon William Kelley and Lillian Frances “Betty” Kelley (nee White). He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and siblings Janice Lucille Ringer and Gordon William “Jack” Kelley, Jr.
By day Mike was a database specialist for Sound United/ Polk Audio. His true passions, however, included Amateur Ham Radio and playing with numerous bands. As an accomplished bass guitarist Mike performed in the bands Steven Stingray and the Swamp Stompers, Highway Star, No Excuses/South of Oz, Eighth Day Morning, Eclipse, Jukebox Live, Travis Adams Band, and Spellbound, among many others. Mike’s eclectic music tastes included a love of Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, and Jimmy Buffet. Family requests no black attire; Hawaiian shirt and other festive attire highly encouraged.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Monday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Where funeral services will be held on Monday at 7:30 PM. Cremation services to follow.
