Paul Poteet

December 16, 1935 — February 19, 2023

Paul Phillip Poteet completed his Earthly journey on February 19th at his home.

He was born on December 16, 1935, in Baltimore City to Jerome and Marie (Lewis) Poteet.

Paul spent most of his life in the Elvaton community of Millersville.  As a young boy, he worked on nearby farms and in produce stands in the city markets.  He worked at Harry’s Sunoco in Glen Burnie as a teen.   He was a hard worker!

Following his graduation from Glen Burnie High School in 1954, he joined the Army and was stationed in England with the 6th Chemical Battalion.

Coming home in 1956, he married his sweetheart, Theresa (Bazzaro).  They were married for 43 years.

Paul then worked for BGE in various positions until his retirement in 1994.  He worked for contractors for 3 more years.

Paul enjoyed gardening, fixing things and telling stories!  He had a sharp mind for details and entertained many with his

fascinating stories! He was most proud of a produce stand located at his home for many years!

He is predeceased by his parents; brothers Jerome, George and Louis; sisters Dolores, Pauline and Margaret. His first wife, Theresa died in 1999.

He is survived by his wife Peggy (Bancroft) of 21 years; sisters Marie Chandler of Pasadena and Annette Schascheck of Crownsville.  He has a large extended family especially George and Ray Poteet and Laverne Smith.   Peggy has two children, Stephanie and Scott and their spouses and 7 grandchildren.

Paul was a lifetime member of the Annapolis Elks and member of the BGE Retirees Assoc.

Special thanks go to DaVita of Glen Burnie and the Hospice of the Chesapeake for their care and support!
