Raymond Atkinson, Sr.

February 20, 1958 — January 10, 2018

Raymond L. Atkinson, Sr. was one of a kind and loved by everyone who knew him. He was born on February 20, 1958. He is the youngest of four brothers, Ernie, Johnny, Jimmy and Bobby. He also has a younger sister, Donna. His parents are his late father, Ernest and his mother Elsie. Ray married the love of his life, Lillian, on October 9, 1976. He was a loving father to Pamela, Ray Jr. and Sarah. He was the proud grandfather of Pamela and her husband Glen's baby boy, Benjamin, his "Bub".

Ray was a professional bowler and was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Bowling Association in November, 1991. Ray also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends and shooting pool on Friday nights with his brothers. For many years, he was the lead singer of several bands and was an excellent performer.

In 2009, Ray was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and had since undergone several surgeries and endured many radiation and chemotherapy treatments over the years. He was a fighter and never gave up no matter how hard the challenge was.

Family and friends will remember Ray as an entertainer, a comedian, and one of the best people they will ever know. Even through his long and hard battle, Ray always thought of everyone before himself, and how his sickness was impacting those that cared for him. He was loved by many and will be remembered forever.
