Rodney Allen Burwick, affectionately known as "Shine," passed away suddenly at home in Pasadena, Maryland on August 18, 2025. Born on June 24, 1972, at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, Shine lit up the lives of many during his years on this earth.
A dedicated professional in the construction field, Shine was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His education began at Chesapeake High School, from which he graduated in 1991, followed by four years at Plumbing Tech School, further honing his skills in this essential trade.
Outside of his career, Shine enjoyed an array of hobbies and interests that showcased his vibrant personality. He had a passion for hunting and crabbing, often spending weekends enjoying these pastimes with family and friends. A devoted sports fan, he cheered on the Ravens and Orioles with fervor. Pets were also a significant part of Shine's life; his beloved dogs, Doc and Daisy, held a special place in his heart. He embraced the simple joys of life and often shared laughter and stories as part of his "Naturday" rituals. He was also a longtime member of the Big Pine Hunting Club on the Eastern Shore with his longtime friends Ricky, Joe and Richard.
Shine is survived by his loving wife, Nicola Burwick; his cherished children, Kaycee, Jake stepfather to Austin, Gareth, Bronwyn, and Hope; and his adored grandchildren, Hayden, Aria, Kaiya, Marley, and Millie, Millo. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Ray Burwick III, and sister-in-law, Teresa Burwick, along with his sister, Penny Woodall, and brother-in-law, Chris Woodall, as well as his sister, Robin Devincent, and brother-in-law, Danny Finke.
Shine was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Burwick, and his father, Ray Ira Burwick, Jr.
A viewing will be held at the family owned and operated McCully Polyniak and Collins Funeral Home, P.A. in Pasadena, MD, on August 22, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Another viewing is scheduled for August 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at noon.
Rodney Allen Burwick "Shine" will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His spirit, kindness, and love will forever endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
