Thomas Alfred Brown, Sr. was born on August 8, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Olaf and Mildred Brown. He was one of twelve children. Thomas peacefully passed away at home on June 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Thomas was the beloved husband of the late Ester Mary Brown. He began his career with the City of Baltimore in 1976 as a nursing assistant. Through hard work and dedication, he advanced to become Supervisor of Transportation, a position he held until his retirement.
Thomas enjoyed spending Sunday mornings at Denny's with his children and grandchildren before visiting the cemetery to place flowers on his beloved wife's grave. He loved taking trips to Wildwood, New Jersey, where he enjoyed the boardwalk and casinos. Thomas also cherished playing cards with his siblings, their spouses, and his wife. During the holiday season, he delighted his grandchildren by dressing up as Santa Claus. Above all, he treasured family cookouts, where he could be surrounded by loved ones while enjoying his favorite Pepsi.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his children: Thomas Stinchcomb (Lois Stinchcomb), Penny Rollins (Joseph Rollins), Thomas A. Brown Jr., Derek Murray, Steve Robinson, and Charles Kern, Sr. (the late Casey Kern).
He was the loving grandfather of Jeremy Bryson, Jennifer Bryson, William Brown (Roxy Butiuc), Jennifer Rollins (Randy Heyn), Jessica Rollins (Ryan Santayana), Brandy Smith (Earl Smith IV), Danielle Brown, Stephanie Brown, Thomas Brown III, Desiree Murray, Kiersten Murray, Michael Murray, Phillip Robinson, Mary Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Steven Robinson Jr., Felicia Silver (Andrew Silver), Charles Kern, Jr., Alexis Kern, and Camryn Kern.
He was the cherished great-grandfather of Nathan Heyn, Noah Heyn, Nicholas Heyn, Sophia Santayana, Sebastian Santayana, Silas Santayana, Stefan Santayana, Faith Rice, Charleigh Smith, Kaylee Thomas, Zoey Silver, Angela McFarland, Maurice Murray, Ayasha Harriston, DeAndre Harriston, Tyler Brown, Travis Howell, Terry Stahl, and Eliana Murray.
He was also the proud great-great-grandfather of Declan Harriston.
In addition to his parents and wife, Thomas was preceded in death by his eleven brothers and sisters, his daughter-in-law, Casey Kern, and his granddaughter, Crystal Beard and Grandson Johanthan Byson.
Thomas is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit the family-owned and operated McCully, Polyniak & Collins Funeral Home, P.A., 3204 Mountain Road, Pasadena, Maryland 21122, on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
