Thomas Richard "Dick" Kalasky, 71, of Severn passed away on December 8, 2018. Beloved husband of 48 years to Phyllis Kalasky (nee Bergeron); Loving father of Jason Kalasky and wife Shannon of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Laura Volkov and husband Alexei of Millersville, Maryland and Candace Kalasky of Severn, Maryland; Dear grandfather of Nathan Kalasky, Lauren Kalasky, Sofia Volkov, Andrew Volkov and Anya Volkov. Dick is survived by brothers John Kalasky and wife Peg of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and David Kalasky and wife Leah of Hilliard, Ohio; sisters Paula Evans of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Karen Tenfelde and husband Hank of Lexington, Kentucky. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Raised primarily in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Bishop Canevin High School in 1965. He also attended the Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania from 1965-1967. He then joined the United States Navy in 1967 and served his country until 1973. He worked in Naval Communications and was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois, Winter Harbor, Maine, the Philippines  and Fort Meade, Maryland. After the military Dick worked for the United States Department of Defense in Fort Meade, Maryland as a civilian from 1974 until his retirement in 2002.

Dick was an avid sports fan, particularly golf, college football and college basketball. His favorite teams include Penn State Nittany Lions and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He also loved music from the 1960's and 1970's era classic rock and R&B. His favorite retirement activities were having a cup of coffee and conversation with family and friends and spending times with his grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road (PASADENA) on Wednesday December 12, 2018 from 1-4 PM. A funeral and military service will begin at 2 PM. Interment Private.
