Viola Billie Harcourt passed away on August 25th, 2025, surrounded by her family after a brief yet valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on May 7th, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland to loving parents that ingrained a strong sense of family values within her from a very young age. She shared a happy childhood with her 2 younger brothers. Vi, or Billie to those who knew her well transplanted to Pasadena more than 60 years ago with most of her immediate family residing within the same Rock Creek Park community. Vi’s family grew with her within this hub raising her children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren within her home. She was vibrant & kind, generous & nurturing, loving & loved. Quick with a hug, a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen. When the chips were down her family could count on her being in their corner. Family was the cornerstone of her life, she was a “Mom” to everyone who entered her orbit. Vi was a natural born storyteller with an imagination like no other, she could spend an entire afternoon in her chair transporting one of the Littles to faraway places unknown because her imagination knew no bounds. Generations of children believed wholeheartedly in the mischief & mayhem that a big, blue stuffed bear of her invention caused. If havoc was reaped, “Big Bear” was the culprit. She believed in the magic of the world both real and imaginary so strongly, that you believed in the magic just by being with her. Little did she realize that she was the magic that abounded us all. She loved to travel and “adventure” if her feet didn’t have to leave the ground to get there. Vi loved to waste away an afternoon pulling the handle of a slot machine hoping to “Win Big”! She surmounted seemly insurmountable obstacles in her life by the sheer tenacity of believing that she could. She was loved and will be missed beyond measure. Viola is survived in death by 4 Children, 9 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, her sister -in- Law, Nieces and Nephews. She was proceeded in Death by her Parents, Husband, Daughter, Brothers & Sister.
