William Levear Swartz, Jr.
September 9, 1942 — December 7, 2025
William (Bill) Levear Swartz, Jr., age 83, of Pasadena, MD, passed away at home on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Bill was the cherished son of William and Elsie Swartz and the loving brother of Barbara Schmit and the late Joel Swartz.
Bill is survived by his wife Janice of 63 years, devoted father of daughter Stacey Boothe and husband Jim, and son Jeff Swartz and wife Renee. His most favorite title of “Poppy” to grandsons Zack Rexine, Matt Rexine, Jakob Rexine, Austin Swartz and Andrew Swartz.
Bill was born on September 9, 1942, in Baltimore. After graduating from Southern High School in Federal Hill in 1961, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy/Reserves as a Yeoman for six years. He was stationed on the USS Independence and made a Mediterranean cruise. After discharge from the Navy, he worked as an accountant for various firms in Maryland and Florida. Spending time with his family, traveling, listening to 50s/60s/70s music and watching the Orioles/Colts/Ravens were some of his many passions he loved dearly. In his later years, he loved going out on the family boat and playing with his dog, Rocky. Bill enriched the lives of those around him with his humor and warmth. His jokes and laughter were a constant source of happiness for all that knew him. A small ceremony will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville in January (DUE NOTICE OF DAY AND TIME WILL BE GIVEN) followed by a Celebration of Life at his son’s home in Glen Burnie, Md.
