Catherine Gorski was born on June 20, 1940, the youngest child of John and Anna Kreppel. Better known to friends and family as “Cass,” she was a life-long resident of Pasadena, MD.
As a child, she first attended the St. Rose of Lima School before moving to St. Jane Frances School when it opened in 1948 and was a member of the first graduating class. Cass then attended St Martins High School in Baltimore and was a member of the graduating Class of 1958.
When Cass was a senior in high school, she would meet the love of her life, Frank Gorski, when they were set up on a date through a mutual friend. They were married on September 30, 1961, and settled in Pasadena, living in her childhood home along Mountain Road. A year later, they started a family with the birth of the first of their four children. Unfortunately, Cass was preceded in death by Frank, who died of lymphoma in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her siblings John Kreppel, William P. Kreppel, Naomi R. (Betty) Bone and her grandson Brandon C. Mason
Widowed at a young age, and with four school aged children, Cass was always devoted to raising her family and made them her first priority. After her youngest child started school, she took courses to become a certified nursing technician. Over the years she worked in that capacity at both South Baltimore General Hospital and Meridian Nursing Home before becoming an independent Home Healthcare Provider. Cass had a natural calling for taking care of patients, and also to care of family and friends when they fell ill.
Her strong faith in God coupled with a tenacious fighting spirit and true compassion for others defined the amazing woman we will always remember. Long before the reality show, “Two Chicks and a Hammer,” there was “Cass and Ann’s Amateur Home Remodeling.” She could help complete projects like remodeling kitchens and hanging paneling and build almost anything from bunk beds to lofts. When the kids were ready to start driving, she was the “go to” driving instructor for not only her own children, but for countless nieces, nephews, and grandchildren! She was never more than a call away if you needed help.
A lifelong member of St Jane Frances Parish, she volunteered as a Pastoral Visitor, Eucharistic Minister, she was also a member of the St. Jane Frances senior club and was involved with the bereavement committee. She was a member of the Liturgy Committee and helped clean and decorate the church.
In addition, Cass was an active member of the community as a member of the Riviera Beach Community Association and North County Land Trust.
Cass was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. She is survived by her four children Vicki Mason (Neil), Michael Gorski (Dawn), Edward Gorski and Stephen Gorski (Jennifer); four grandchildren Kyle Mason (Taylor), Eric Mason, John and Katie Gorski and 1 great-grandchild Zane Mason. Cass is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
