Courtney Stockton

March 7, 1976 — June 13, 2022

Pasadena

Courtney Nicole Stockton was born on 7 March 1976 to George and Vicki Stockton. She was born at the military hospital in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Being the first grandchild in the family her grandmothers and Great Grandmother spoiled her. Courtney’s mother, Vicki would make most of Courtney’s cloths and she was the best dressed little girl on the base and in school. She loved pushing her baby carriage and loved watching Disney movies. While she loved the Disney princesses, her favorite Disney character was Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh movie. This love of the character would remain her favorite through her life. The overriding love was Courtney’s little brother, Brandon.

During her life in Kentucky Courtney’s little Brother, Brandon was born. Courtney and her brother became very close as siblings. Courtney loved her little brother, and her brother idolized his big sister. At four years old Courtney experienced a tragedy that would stay with her the rest of her life. Her dearest and closest friend Brandon died. She spent the rest of her life mourning her brother.

Since her Dad was in the military she moved a lot, almost every three years. She lived in five different military bases in as many states, to include three years in Germany during the cold war. This experience taught Courtney how to adapt quickly, but more importantly how to make friends. As an only child she learned to value her friends like family. During her Dad’s military years Courtney attended the Department of Defense school – yes, she was a “Military Bratt”, a label children of military parents are very proud of.

Eventually, Courtney’s Dad moved on to Savannah, Georgia where Courtney would enter middle school and attend St James Catholic School and ultimately St Vincent’s Catholic High School where she graduated. After high school Courtney was accepted to the University of Georgia and ultimately finished her bachelors of primary education in Atlantic State University in Savannah.

Courtney would later find that her true calling was the restaurant field where she excelled as a competent manager, fair and friendly with her co-workers. Courtney worked her way up the restaurant system to become manager of her own restaurant in Jacksonville. Her move to Jacksonville was an exciting step for Courtney, for a couple of reasons. A new work challenge and the opportunity to be close to family. She always wanted to be part of a big family and finally after many years her Dad and Step Mother had two children, a girl named Isabel and a boy named James. Courtney would dote on her brother and sister and would spoil them every chance she got. And, her brother and siter adored their big sister Courtney. Courtney told her Dad that she needed to spend more time with Isabel and James and was looking forward to their return from Germany.

Christmas was a big deal for Courtney, her favorite time of year. She loved decorating her house and loved helping her dad decorate whenever possible. She would spend a lot of time searching for gifts for her brother and sister, she always gave the perfect gifts.

What was important to Courtney, her friends, her family and co workers. She loved them and loved helping and being with them. She always strived for excellence at her job. Her dad was her idol and hero and would praise his life on virtual media throughout the year, which would embarrass her dad. She missed him very much when too much time would pass and they hadn’t talked. She remained excited about her move to Jacksonville and spending more time with her dad.

Having been raised a Catholic she never lost her faith. She believe God was the answer to happiness and following him was the only way to live your life.
