Daniel Lee Calvert
March 8, 1976 – September 20, 2022
Daniel “Dan” Lee Calvert, 46, died September 20, 2022.  Dan was born on March 8, 1976, in Baltimore, MD to William and Geraldine Calvert.  As a kid he loved getting to drive the lawnmower cutting the grass but even more he liked to save his money to get to go to the go-cart track.  Being at the track was a relief to his sister Lisa, it kept him from burying her Barbies.  But for Karen it meant a day he wouldn’t be coming down to clean her stove.  He sure liked a variety of activities.  Growing up with Dan, you knew him as Danny and as he grew up and found his forever love with his wife Crystal, we would often hear the stern teeth grinding “Danielson” from her.  They were married on October 17, 1998, their marriage was full of love and fun with family and friends.  Dan and Crystal enjoyed everything from country line dancing, playing cards with family to weekends away at Ocean City Bike Week.  Their family was blessed over and over as they welcomed three daughters into the world, Ashley Nicole, Kaitlyn Marie and Allison Skye.  Having three daughters made their family complete, but Dan having a unique bond with each of them was a blessing, including their bonus daughter Big Katy that joined the family later.

After graduating from Chesapeake High School in 1994, Dan served in the Army National Guard, retiring in 2019 with 25 proud years of service.  During his time in the Guard, he was activated for Operation Noble Eagle in response to the World Trade Center and Pentagon Attacks.  Dan was a longtime member of UA Local 486, since 1998, working many projects across our communities and helping to mentor apprentices in his most recent years.  Even off the clock you could find Dan in his truck and Will in his during snowstorms looking for people that needed help.

To Dan family was friends and friends were family.  His family, his bond of brothers, started from the day he was born.  His older brother Will would bounce him on his knee and said we’re going to be best buddies forever, and that they were and always will be.  His nephews, you would never know, were they nephews, are they triplets?  Who are these musketeers?  It’s Dan, Jason and Jeffrey at it again.  Dan has been a shoulder, an uncle, a best friend, a companion beyond companions.  His close circle, his family, his bond of brothers and those who will always hold him close include his great-nephew Riley, his “brother” Charles, and longtime friend Shawn.  These are the men that have forever stood by him and he by them.

While Dan’s life ended entirely too soon, he lived it to the fullest, memories made day after day.  Dan was a well-known member of our local pool leagues for the last 25 years with the majority of years playing in the APA and the recent years in the TAP league.  And would you believe it?  He played league with his family, Will, Dan, Karen, Charles, Jeffrey, Riley, Ashley and Hunter, and back in the day, Crystal, Erica, Lisa, Warren, Bridget and Chrissy too. Always everything with family, even a weekly commitment to a pool league!  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle whether it be for a group ride, a bike week event or just a nice day to ride to work.  His brother, Will, and him used to challenge each other who could get a ride in every month of the year, all 12.  He recently took up golf, scheduled to go out and play with Jason, Jeffrey and Will, like it didn’t matter he had never played before, this is what he did now, let’s go golfing boys!  If they weren’t shooting pool, swinging clubs or sliding shuffleboard pucks you can bet you would find Dan throwing cornhole bags or throwing axes at Jason and Kendall’s house, it isn’t quite clear if Jason and Dan really knew lately whose house belonged to who.  Nope, it is just one Calvert house.

Dan also spent years working for the Orioles as an usher with his dad, William Calvert Jr (deceased).  Their passion for the Orioles has blood running orange in the Calvert family.  Games with family, friends, his wife and his daughters really became special, memories for all to cherish.  Go O’s!

Dan was an incredible son, husband, brother, father, uncle, great uncle and friend.  And in the moments of living his life to his fullest are also buried the most miraculous moments that fill your soul with joy.  The moments that he grabs his daughters’ hand to dance in a circle.  The moments he sings a song at the top of their lungs with his sisters. The moment he wraps his arms around his mother to comfort her one more time.  The moment he shakes his brother’s hand, and you can feel a whole hug in the fingertips.  The moment he plays a joke on one of his nieces, young or small. The moment that he places his hand on his wife’s leg and you can see her love radiate and the slight smile turn in her lips.  The moment he places his hand on his nephew’s shoulder and you can see the comforting peace it brings.  These are the moments.

Dan is survived by his wife, Crystal Calvert, three daughters Ashley, Kaitlyn and Allison Calvert, his mother, Geraldine Calvert, brother and wife, William and Bridget Calvert, sisters, Karen Carre and Lisa Calvert, nieces and nephews, Christina Calvert and Lucas Hommel , Kimberly Calvert, Jason, Kendall, Liam and Addison Calvert, Emily Calvert and Elizabeth Calvert; Warren Carre, Jeffrey Kaminski, Riley Carre; Hayley Dales, Robert Mitten Jr, Skyler Mitten; family in heart, Katy Noll, Charles and Erica Welden, Shawn Sparks.
