John Ross Evans Jr. (March 28, 1958-October 20, 2021)

On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, John Evans Jr. (63) of Millersville, MD went HOME to be with the LORD.

Born to parents John and Charlotte (Dennis) Evans, John grew up and spent a large portion of his life in Glen Burnie MD.  He attended Andover High in Linthicum and was a 1977 graduate -where he was named “Class Clown”.

After graduating, John had several vocations including a charter bus driver, a landscaper, and an electrician apprentice before starting his career with Anne Arundel County Recreation & Parks, where he proudly worked for 30 years until his retirement in April 2018.

John married Kristine Miller in June 1991 and during their 18-year marriage had one daughter Emily Lauren.  When Emily has younger, she and John were always seen together---quite the twosome. He often took her to parks, play areas, church events and was always there for her school activities and other occasions.   The two were inseparable.

In June 2011, John married Diane Nelson, who he called “The Love of his Life”, and proudly told everyone she was his “Angel”.  He often said he was never happy or had peace until the Lord brought them together.   Anyone that knew the couple saw their special love and devotion for one another.

John was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Diane and wonderful father to Emily. Family life was his focus. He enjoyed reading the Bible and “Daily Bread”, antique cars, watching comedies, gardening, traveling, worshipping and he had a special love for Yard Sales.   John was quite a character-with a wonderful sense of humor, who loved playing practical jokes.   His infectious smile could lighten any situation.  His laugh and voice were one of a kind and will never be forgotten.  He had a singing voice-like none other--that he proudly displayed in any church he attended.

John Evans was well known for his “witnessing” to others about the Lord---starting in his twenties and continuing until his death.  During his recent 4 week stay at Crofton Care and Rehab, John gave out his Jesus witnessing coins to patients and staff members- as he loved sharing the goodness of God and his goal in life was to someday be home with “HIS Lord”.

John was a current member of Maranatha Chapel in Bowleys Qtrs, and had also attended Abundant Life, Calvary Chapel International Worship Ctr. and Pasadena Assembly of God churches.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlotte Evans, brother James Roland Evans, and his former wife Kristine Reintzell.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Diane Nelson-Evans of Millersville, daughter Emily Lauren Evans of Pasadena, his “adopted son” Matthew Nickelson of Pasadena, sister Linda Evans-Lericos of Utah, nieces Cassidy and  Megan  Evans of Maryland, nephew Brandon Daniel Nelson of Glen Burnie, sister-in-law Judy Nelson-Hall and her husband Daniel Hall of Brooklyn,  nieces Cynthia Hall of Belair,  Tiffany Hall and Ashley Hall of Brooklyn, his special Jerscheid Family, and hundreds of friends-- who were his family. He is also survived by his furry babies Dottie the Corgie and Buster the "CAT."

John had many health battles in his life, but he fought the fight and won the war!   And John is now home with “HIS LORD”.
