Joseph Lupinek, Jr.

August 14, 1960 — April 27, 2021

Joseph Vincent Lupinek, Jr. was born on August 14, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a devoted son to Rosanna and Joseph Lupinek. He loved his mother deeply.

He graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 1979 and played varsity lacrosse in his sophomore, junior and senior years. He was a blue-collar, hard worker throughout his career.

He is survived by his four daughters, Jessica Beers, Jamie Lupinek, Elizabeth Giles and Courtney Lupinek; his only son Joseph (Joey) Lupinek; and his siblings Thomas Lupinek, James Lupinek and Juliann Biggs. He took immense pride in being a Pop Pop to Brody Gailey, Kara Disney, Roman Beers, Jameson Giles and Julian Giles. He was proud to call Andrew Beers and Steven Giles his sons-in-law. He was the “fun uncle” to Amy Minefski, Tom Lupinek Jr., JoAnna Haines, David Lupinek, Timothy Lupinek, Allison Healey and Katie Hofstetter.

Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting and crabbing. He had a brilliant mind that could fix anything, including turning a lawn mower into a go-kart. He had more friends than one could count and would give someone the shirt off his back if that meant it would help them. He enjoyed being the center of a good time and hosting parties for any occasion. His one of a kind smile and genuine charm could make anyone grin and feel loved.  He loved his family and golden retrievers with every ounce of his being. He loved fiercely, without regret.

To those who are grieving, he would want to tell you this:

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.

I’m following the path God laid for me.

I took His hand when I heard Him call.

I turned my back and I left it all.

I could not stay another day.

To laugh, to love, to work, to play

Tasks left undone must stay that way.

I’ve found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with a remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.

Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and share with me,

God wanted me now; He set me free.

If you have a happy or one of the many funny memories you would like to share about Joe, please leave it in the box at the service or send it to one of his children for them to read together at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He spent many days on the water creating memories with his children
