Nellie Weaver

September 24, 1935 — September 11, 2021

The family of Nellie L. Weaver sadly announce that our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on September 11, 2021.
Nellie was born on September 24,1935 to Mabel and Floyd Leeson. She was proceeded in death by the great love of her life, her husband William R. Weaver, Sr. Nellie worked as a waitress at Riverdale on the Magothy and spent many of her retirement years working at Meats and More, her local grocery store. She always considered her most important job to be a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Nellie has three surviving children: William R. Weaver, Jr., Tammy Milburn and Elizabeth Young.
She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Sondra Marie. Her beloved grandchildren are Shannon Ripeon, Lisa Rae Simons, Sandy Weaver, Megan Benner, Savannah Weaver and Justin Weaver. Her beloved great-grandchildren are Lucas Rippeon, Charlie Simons, Cade Benner, Bobby (Sunshine) Simons and Cora Benner. Nellie’s sons and daughter-in-law are Lotte Weaver, Robert Milburn and Charles Young. She also leaves behind her treasured dog and constant companion, Lucy.
Nellie always said that marrying her husband William (Ray) was the best moment of her life. Theirs was truly a great love story. She never remarried after his passing in 1992. In a life filled with great joy and great challenges, she always found strength and hope in the love of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Everyone that met her knew Nellie as a happy woman with a sparkling smile and a boisterous laugh. Her’s was the house where neighbourhood kids felt welcome enough to rummage through the refrigerator without asking. They knew Miss Nellie would not be mad if they had a baloney sandwich. She’d be more upset if they felt like they had to ask. Miss Nellie never met a stranger. She was the slightly wacky lady in the Baltimore Raven’s sweatshirt that just started talking to you while you were in line at the bank or supermarket. Her children remember her as the kind of mother that made their school lunches, walked them to the bus stop and sang to them -  all whether they wanted her to or not. Like any good mother should, she made her kids crazy now and then, telling the same stories, over and over and talking for hours about people she swore that they knew, but had never met.
But she was always there for them. She ended every conversation with her generations of offspring by saying, “Remember, nobody loves you more than me.” She was the living embodiment of unconditional love. She loved crocheting, crafts, quilting, Law and Order and that dang dog!
