Richard Allen Whorten “Dick” was born on January 3rd, 1940 in Sharon PA to the late Emanuel Alonzo Whorten and Theresa Olga Krayniak. Affectionately know by his mother as Dicksey Doodlebug he is a graduate of John’s Hopkins University, he proudly served in the Army from 1960 through 1963. Dick worked for the Department of Defense for over 20 years traveling all over the world in support of the Armed Forces. He also worked for Clement Hardware from 1970 through 2019. Though working for Clement Hardware and spending time with his wife were his two favorite pastimes he also enjoyed working outside and tinkering with projects. He also proudly served for many years as a reserve police officer for Anne Arundel County. Always the gentleman Dick was loving and helpful to all who knew him opening doors and lending a helping hand whenever he could his friends and family could always turn to him for unconditional love and support. In addition to his parents Dick is preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda L. Robinson, as well as his siblings Elmer Whorten and Daniel Whorten, and his brother and sister in laws Leon Shell, Carl Esmond, Norene Whorten, and Marie Whorten. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Lillian K. Whorten (Gray), his granddaughter Traci L. Robinson, sisters Etta Shell, Dorthy Esmond, Ilene Yudt and Edna Darrenbacher, brother Robert Whorten, brother in laws Jim Darrenbacher and Phil Youdt, as well as many more family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Monday 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
