Pasadena

Pasadena — Robert (Bob) George Calvert, 82, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019 after an 18 month battle with stomach cancer.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Jean Calvert; his son, John Richard Jewer Jr and his wife, Regina Jewer; four daughters, Denise LaBarre, Sheri Chisholm, Dawn Rothenhoefer, and Dana Sneathen; his brother, Lawrence Calvert Jr; two sisters, Ruthie Jones and Flosie; six grandchildren, Brandi LaBarre-Smith and her husband Michael Smith, Ciera LaBarre, Alicia Chisholm, Tyler Chisholm, Kati Rothenhoefer, Amy Rothenhoefer, Josef Sneathen, and Jordyn Sneathen; and countless close friends.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, MD, the son of Lawrence and Ruth Calvert, he was a lifelong resident of Pasadena with homes in The Villages, FL and Ocean City, MD (his happy places).

Bob attended Glen Burnie High School and then served in the US Navy for 8 years, including time on the USS Forrestal. Bob and his brother started a gas station business, and he later branched off on his own to open multiple gas stations before starting the Calvert Oil Company.

He married Jean in 1978 and they enjoyed traveling the world together, hanging out with friends, parties, summers in Ocean City, and winters in Florida. Bob loved boating on the Chesapeake, golfing, spending time with his family, and would often have a vodka and tonic in hand (properly named the "Bob Calvert"). He rooted for the Ravens and watched The Price is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune almost every day. He was a member of the Masons, the Boumi Shrine, the Jesters, and the Glen Burnie Elks Lodge.

Bob was blessed with a loving family and so many great friends, and they have shared countless great memories together over the years.
