Stephen Morgan

August 4, 1952 — February 19, 2021

Stephen A. Morgan, 68, passed peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Paula Morgan. He leaves behind two daughters, Courtney Morgan McAvoy (Nicholas McAvoy) and Ashley Morgan Baldwin (Thomas Baldwin), four grand-daughters, Sophie McAvoy, Kinley McAvoy, Emery Baldwin, and Abigail Baldwin, and his partner Sally Hendon. He was the loving son of Margaret Morgan and the late Harold Morgan. He was the second youngest of five siblings, Dennis Morgan, Jesse Morgan, the late Tom Morgan,  Peggy (Morgan) Hall, and Matt Morgan.

He made a home with his family in Pasadena, Maryland and had recently “retired” to Delaware. His “happy place” was anywhere by a beach. He served as a police officer for Anne Arundel County for 27 years, spending time in almost every division as well as teaching at the Police Academy. After his retirement, he went on to create a screen printing and embroidery business called “S&P Sports”, catering projects to the police department as well as local athletic groups. Before starting a career as a police officer, Steve was a firefighter with the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department. Steve loved coaching soccer and softball, even coaching the Old Mill Varsity softball team for several years. He later moved on to coaching his granddaughters’ T-Ball and Sticklette teams. After watching both daughters play field hockey, he studied the rules of the game and went on to become a county field hockey referee. He recently could be found in the stands of his granddaughters’ field hockey games educating other fans about the rules (often arguing calls). He maintained a mean vegetable garden and was able to grow just about anything. He taught all his girls how to fish and how to crab with only a piece of twine and a chicken neck. He was known for making amazing chicken wings with his homemade sauce. He was a trickster and joker—hiding things around the house to startle an unsuspecting victim. He was a kind and gentle man, a tickle monster, a collector of nick-nacks, a music lover and a sensitive soul. He loved his sassy schnauzer Tessie, whom he sometimes called Barky Von Schnauzer.

He loved sunsets, making his own wine, spending time with family, watching the Orioles and travelling the country in his RV. We will forever miss his warm comfy hugs.
