Sylvia Marie Beres (Scurti) was born and raised in Baltimore on June 1, 1937, she was 85 years old. Sylvia is the loving daughter of Domenico and Lena Scurti. (Garofalo) She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Joseph Beres, who departed us on July 26, 1992. Sylvia’s greatest joy was her family. Always a loving mother to her sons, Eugene and wife Fran, Steven and wife Kuang, and Rodney and wife Stacey. If you knew Sylvia, you knew of her grandchildren and all of their accomplishments; Andrew and his wife Marlee, Alex, Tony, Amaya, Adam, her two bonus grandchildren Wade and Meg, along with her great-granddaughter Harper. Sylvia is preceded in death by her older sister Rosalie Mastroianni. She leaves behind younger siblings Michael Scurti, John Scurti, Linda Ford, and Maria Brine, along with favorite cousin Roseanna Bucara and many nieces and nephews. Sylvia grew up in Highlandtown, immersed in the Italian culture of her parents and community. She was a devout Catholic who attended Our Lady of Pompei school and church where she learned to sing and play the piano. She went on to graduate from St. Michael’s Business School in Fells Point. She served as a soloist for all the church’s events. Sylvia, along with her husband, who was also a musician, passed their love for music onto their children and grandchildren. Sylvia retired from First National Bank in 1992. In retirement she took the most pleasure doting on her family. She was always cooking and providing the care and support needed. Sylvia was also a member of the Pasadena Senior Center and the Thursday Bingo club at the VFW on Ft. Smallwood Road.
